ENGL 3840 - Ecocriticism

5 credit hours
A thorough study of ecocriticism, a type of literary criticism that focuses on the relationship between nature and literature. This course offers the opportunity to develop a critical understanding of ecology as well as a chance to evaluate the impact of human developments on the natural world. It focuses on the development of a critical framework for an in-depth analysis of the modern environmental movement and explores how writing can be employed to address environmental problems plaguing the world today. It also requires students to learn and utilize a variety of written genres in order to engage in debates related to ecocriticism and environmental justice both locally and globally.
