PHIL 4200 - Virtue Ethics5 credit hours Formerly - PHIL 420 This course examines recent work in virtue ethics. Authors studied include the neo-Aristotelians, Alasadair MacIntyre, Martha Nussbaum, and Rosalind Hursthouse, as well as representatives of contemporary feminist and consequentialist virtue theories. In addition, the course may consider examples of important particular virtues such as justice, courage, or humility, and the impact of virtue ethics on areas of applied ethics (e.g., medical ethics).
