PSYC 3040 - Biological Basis of Learning and Memory

5 credit hours
Formerly - PSYC 4040
This course is designed to provide a thorough investigation into the neurobiological basis of learning and memory. It will explore the molecular and cellular basis of learning in invertebrates and vertebrates from both a behavioral and neural perspective. The foundations of this course will be laid out through an in-depth look at the behavioral aspects of learning and memory, including the most current theoretical concepts from the field of psychology. This will be followed by an investigation of the neurophysiological, neuroanatomical, and neurochemical mechanisms of memory at the cellular level and conclude with the study of systems that function at the level of the whole behaving organism.

Prerequisite Course/s: PSYC 1200 or equivalent
