FILM 3230 - Film Genres: Musicals5 credit hours Formerly - FILM 323 A study of that most American of theatrical genres, the musical, as embodied on the screen. The genre incorporates conventions that openly violate our experience of the “real world,” by requiring cast members to burst into song and dance at crucial, emotional moments. The power of these musical conventions will be examined, together with the audience psychology which allows them to be accepted. GN
