An overview of documentary photography in which students complete a documentary project of their own choosing. The class will examine how documentary style creates a bridge between social issues and photographic possibilities. Class readings, slide lectures and discussion will review a vast range of historic and contemporary documentary projects including handsome fine art portfolios published by major publishers to small publications distributed by activist organizations. Photography majors only.
