THRS 334 - Asian Religions


An exploration of some major religious traditions of Southeast and East Asia including Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism and Buddhism along with their intersections with indigenous traditions. Classical traditions of Confucianism and Taoism which influence much of the later traditions of Buddhism. Hinduism in India, noting historical developments throughout the regions of India and the beginnings of Buddhism in India, its movement to China and finally Tibet. Prerequisite: 200 level theology and religious studies course. WR5
