ANTH 482 - Culture and Reproduction This course examines the ways in which diverse cultures represent, customize, conceptualize and organize biological reproduction. How is reproductive activity related to other cultural institutions such as the family, religion and law? Which forms of reproductive activity are culturally sanctioned and which forms are punished? What is the relationship between reproduction and other legitimating cultural activities? The course also explores variations on the concept of “reproduction” at the macro level and with regard to cultural change and development. Satisfies core interdisciplinary requirement.5
