Design considerations for foundations. Introduction to Terzaghi’s bearing capacity theory and lateral earth pressure theory. Design of shallow and deep foundations. Design of retaining walls, sheet pile walls and anchored retaining structures. Slope stability analysis. Correlation of soil properties based on subsurface exploration results. Prerequisite: CEEGR 353. (fall)
