Financial repression and liberalization and their effects; financial instability; connections between monetary policy, fiscal policy and inflation; microfinance; exchange rate regimes; central banking in the LDCs; secondary financial markets in the LDCs; the LDC Debt Crisis; The Asian financial crisis; globalization and LDC financial markets; international financial institutions and the LDCs. Prerequisites: ECON 271, 272.
